Warren R. Shiell is a Certified Family Law Specialist — a distinction held by fewer than one in 200 family attorneys — and has earned the endorsement of fellow family lawyers and family court judges alike. Drawing on nearly 30 years of legal experience across multiple jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, New York, and California, Mr. Shiell is a skilled trial attorney who has conducted numerous civil and family law trials. He has obtained restraining orders and defended numerous clients in domestic violence proceedings. Mr. Shiell graduated from Oxford University with an M.A. in Law in 1985. After practicing in commercial litigation in the City of London, he relocated to New York and worked for the Legal Aid Society of Mid New York where he handled numerous civil and family law trials and secured several successful appeals before the New York Appellate Division. Since establishing his practice in California, Mr. Shiell has focused exclusively on family law, guiding clients through the deeply personal and often complex process of marital dissolution. He is one of the few dedicated family lawyers in Los Angeles who has conducted jury trials while with Legal Aid. Mr. Shiell has a particular expertise in domestic abuse law. He has represented victims referred by shelters and works closely with domestic violence experts. Mr. Shiell has lectured and published articles on behalf of various local Bar Associations, newspapers, and magazines, and has generously volunteered with numerous nonprofit legal organizations.Mr. Shiell has been named a “Super Lawyer” by Los Angeles Magazine and has served as a member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
